Cox's Bazar: Advocate Sirajul Mostafa, President of Cox's Bazar District Awami League, is the Religious Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee.


On the other hand, Faridul Islam Chowdhury, the current vice-president and chairman of Kutubdia Upazila Parishad, has been given the charge of acting president of Cox's Bazar district Awami League.



The matter was confirmed in a letter signed by Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday (November 25).


The two newly-appointed leaders have in the past contested for the Maheshkhali-Kutubdia (Cox's Bazar-2) parliamentary seat with the nomination of the Awami League. Sirajul Mostafa in 1996 and Faridul Islam Chowdhury in 2001 became candidates on Awami League ticket. Sirajul Mostafa's house is in Dwip Upazila Maheshkhali and Faridul Islam Chowdhury's house is in another Dwip Upazila Kutubdia. In the long political life, the two leaders have gone through many ups and downs and strengthened their position. Has established himself as a dedicated politician for the party.


Advocate Sirajul Mostafa and Mujibur Rahman were announced as the president and general secretary of the district Awami League conference and council on January 26, 2016. Later on October 13 of the same year, the 71-member district full committee of the Awami League was approved by Awami League president Sheikh Hasina and the then general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam. Faridul Islam Chowdhury was made vice-chairman of that committee.


Meanwhile, as Cox's Bazar district got a seat in the central committee, there has been a renewed enthusiasm among the leaders and workers of the district.

We, the people of the district, are proud of the decision of the Center. Hopefully, this decision will further accelerate the development of Cox's Bazar.
